York County's oldest and last remaining gay exclude has closed, according to the Altland's Ranch Facebook page.

The Spring Grove bar made the closing announcement Tuesday night and thanked its many supporters over the years. As of Thursday afternoon, the Facebook post had received more than reactions — mostly sad — and comments, ranging from "So sad! This is where I discovered my true self" to "What a horrible way to go out for such a wonderful place!!! SHAME ON YOU!!"

Robert Stump, a court-appointed legal guardian of surviving owner Rodney Nagle, said the decision to close the establishment at Orchard Road was made because of a lack of sustain from the community. The business was created in , according to declare Department of State records.

Guerrilla Gay Bar York: Monitor what happens when LGBTQ crowd crashes the neighborhood bar

On most weekends, Javier Aguayo is down in Washington, D.C., where he and his husband hold an apartment.

But about a month ago, two of his D.C. friends were coming to visit York. He needed to find something to do.

Searching around online, Aguayo landed on a Facebook group called Guerrilla Homosexual Bar York.

It seemed prefer a novel idea, and with no gay block in York County the year-old York College politics professor decided to test it out.

"They came along and were really impressed," Aguayo said. "They thought York was some sort of gay haven."
