Are you ready for gay Star Wars?

This is an absorbing conversation to me, because 95% of the Star Wars characters are completely devoid of sexuality. Aside from the dramatized relationship between Han and Leia, and some terse female objectification from Lando and Jabba, there was nothing (and yes, I’m purposefully leaving out the “romance” between Anakin and Padme). Yoda could acquire been gay, or Obi-Wan, or Qui Gon, or even Luke (sure he said Leia was beautiful and got a kiss, but we all comprehend that doesn’t contain to matter). I’m a gay guy, and I don’t really get worked up over stuff like this but I think it would be stylish to see a gay character. However, it would construct me go ‘meh’ if it were forced into the story to be “forward thinking.” To me, Star Wars has always been about friendship, family, adventure, and excellent vs. evil. S exual relationships are incidental and off-screen, so if they had a lgbtq+ character I would hope they would stay in that vein. Let the characters be terrific, and then if there’s a passion interest that makes sense in the story arc, so be it. No matter what the gend

This, of course, has been part of the bigger issue. Over the past 30 years, there has been a rising prominence of queer inclusion in mainstream media that has helped to shed light on the life of LGBTQIA+ people. Homosexual media first emerged as an underground medium, providing a way of communicating the issues that LGBTQIA+ people were faced with. There was an strive, in early queer films, to recalibrate any wrongful perception of queer individuals and strip away the belittling inaccuracies made about them. Since then, particularly with LGBTQ+ movies of the s and s, tremendous progress been made in the visibility and representation of queer characters and narratives in mainstream media.

Queer representation has change into more mainstream in fiction in recent years, across film, television, literature, comic books, and video games. Major franchises are introducing

I assume we aren’t counting hermaphroditic species (the hutts) or other non-binary-gender-conforming characters like droids. Good on the LGBT humans! Though it will be much more meaningful if an LGBT traits makes it into the next film trilogy.

There were LGB characters in various Star Wars books and games which are now considered not to be canon. There have been no trans characters as far as I know.

While I haven’t read much of the Extended Universe, the sexuality of the Characters mattered very little in the movies. I would speak there is a miniature amount of romance in the film, and very little sexuality at all. Half of Red Squadron could have been male lover but it wouldn’t matter because it had nothing to do with the story.

I am betting that is a fan fic story somewhere.
