You you think kokichi is heavily gay coded? And if you execute think so then maybe an explanation could help? I kinda want to understand a bit more!

I've been over this quite a lot in older posts, but rather than saying Ouma is gay-coded, I'd go as far as to declare he's canonically interested in men. At the very least, his romantic interest in Saihara is explicit in the Japanese version of the text.

In chapter 4, during the scene right after he talks to Saihara in the parlor of the VR world, Ouma specifically refers to him as "the person I fell in love with" (suki ni natta hito / 好きになった人). This is honestly about as explicit a way of showing that Ouma is in love with Saihara as anything: it's not an optional scene, as it takes place completely within the events of the main game, not his free second events or his cherish hotel. It also takes place during a scene where Ouma is essentially talking to himself, with no other characters around, meaning he has literally no incentive to rest (and he's already established that he doesn't

I don't focus heavily on the sexuality itself, but more on *who* Kokichi seems to have feelings for in canon (which, to me, looks to be Shuichi way more than anyone else; sorry if you disagree ;w;). Agree agree agree!! I do hc Oma as having feelings for Saihara, I just don’t appreciate that narrative being forced on everyone as I think it is also open to interpretation.

Really, my big opinion on the matter is still that (1) if you headcanon a character as lgbtq+, changing their personality for that headcanon in particular is uncomfortable (2) Kokichi Oma is bad “representation” in that he’s not a good person and (3) you shouldn’t force a sexuality onto a ethics and say it’s canon if it isn’t explicit, espec

It’s usually used as a way to make him more endearing. Just slap gay on him! Whatever you headcanon his sexuality as, don’t aim to make that an extra positive trait. It’s a neutral thing. Because it’s normal. It doesn’t change who he is as a person. All your cutesy jokes about him creature soooo gay and being in-your-face about it freak me out and as I just implied, makes his gayness seem like this special trait we should all regard . I headcanon him as bisexual but I’m never gonna say he’s a bisexual icon.

You can be really sensible about it! I only say this because I detect a lot of people are weird about it. He really… doesn’t say “lmao I’m gay” every other line.
