Is superboy gay

On Monday (timed for National Coming Out Day), comic-related news broke that quickly made mainstream news: Superman’s son, Jon Kent, is coming out as bisexual in “Superman: Son of Kal-El” #5, due to come out November 9. The series’ premise is that Jon’s father is off on a lengthy mission in vacuum. The teenage Jon, operating as Superboy until then, took over his Dad’s duties on Earth as Superman.
The news has been the buzz of the internet, and raised some other questions (some valid, some ludicrous), which I thought I’d answer in this post.
This isn’t the “real” Superman? Also, Superman has a son?
As others have noted repeatedly, this isn’t “our” Superman, i.e. Clark Kent, who’s arrive out. This is Jonathan “Jon” Kent, the son of Superman and Lois Lane. (Clark and Lois got married back in , if you forgot.) Jon was born in in the (convoluted) crossover comic storyline “Convergence: Superman” #2 (July ), and named after his adoptive grandfather, Jonathan “Pa” Kent.
Until recently, Jon was portrayed as a grade-schooler. However, most DC/Marvel super
The Case For Queer Superboy [Pride Week]
In his widely-criticized and later thoroughly-debunked manual Seduction of the Innocent, psychiatrist Fredric Wertham argued that exposure to abuse, sex, and other individual themes in comic guide pushed kids towards delinquency.
His argument grew so well-liked that it was cited in a U.S. Congressional inquiry and helped inspire the Comics Code Authority an agreement by comics publishers to self-regulate their content as a means to avoid government ordinance. Lasting from to , the CCA prohibited graphic violence, hidden weapons, unpunished criminal activity, and excessive use of slang. Some rules also disallowed illicit sex relations, sexual abnormalities, sex perversion, and passion that didnt emphasize the sanctity of marriage.
Publishers and writers alike interpreted those rules to mean that they should exclude LGBTQ characters. Its not a complicated stretch to make, as Wertham himself treated homosexuality as deviant, and condemned Batman and Robin for the supposed gay subtext bet

Eh I mean most of the amazing posters like you (not to explode smoke up your ass) have left. Only people left these days decline into three groups:
Complainers: These guys detest everything and only post here to let us perceive that (Jeffery, All-Star Superman, Laser_Man).
Lurkers: These guys are here because… well I didn’t really understand why. Most of them never send they just view. Your old buddy David Mann lurks here and he certainly doesn’t speak. I actually saw him seething on Twitter about me being positive regarding the Superbooks with one of his buddies who had a monkey in a Superman suit PFP. It was funny because I stopped following him beforehand because of how negative and whiny he had gotten, but the algorithm somehow knew he was talking about me I guess and threw him in my feed, he had reached the place he was talking a
Jon Kent:Superboy Appreciation
Thats what I think as well. Theyve shown that they dont really care to even try to make him a genuinely engaging character, they just want to be able to say they have a bi Superman.

It always rubs me the wrong way when I see people "thank" DC for creating a queer superhero on the level of Superman bi people can finally see themselves in because whats so erroneous with a bisexual Superboy? Jon is just as queer and bi when hes Superboy as he is Superman and aged up (probably more so because I will keep bringing up the fact DC still has yet to publish a manual where aged up Jon says the words and identifies himself as bi or bisexual).
If there was any real sincerity behind their statements, they would state they see themselves in Jon the character, but no, they dont, they say they notice themselves in Jon the Bi Superman. Jon being a trailblazing bisexual Superboy accomplishes everything they think Jon does aged up but better.
I know they dont care about the character, only the gimmick, because the
