Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich wishes everyone a Happy Pride Month for June ! Once again, Saanich will partner with Victoria Pride Society and Inter-cultural Association (ICA) to bring their fabulous celebration of Pride to the community.
Join virtually at 10 a.m. June 1, at for a live video as Acting Mayor Karen Harper raises the Progress Pride Flag at Municipal Hall and proclaims June to be Pride Month in Saanich, in support and celebration of the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual , and Queer community.

The organization responsible for organizing this event is called the Victoria Event Society. Since its establishment in as a profit entity they have been dedicated to supporting the local lgbtq+Q+ community through other initiatives such as programs, events and resources. Their collaboration with businesses, collective organizations and volunteers plays a role in creating an inclusive celebration.

LGBTQIA+ celebrations to showcase Victoria's Pride
A landmark program of pride events and projects returns to Victoria each year as part of a statewide celebration of LGBTQIA+ communities.
The annual event named Victoria’s Pride (previously Melbourne Pride) will be held across the state for at least four years to support and celebrate our rainbow communities.
Victoria’s Pride kicks off in November with a series of regional activities, culminating in a one-day street party in Melbourne’s iconic Gertrude and Smith Street precinct on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people, from am to pm as the closing event of Midsumma Festival. It includes multiple stages with free, live entertainment including melody, comedy, guest speakers, circus, drag and art installations. Performing artists are announced ahead of the event.

What You Need to Know: Pride Parade
The Pride March on Sunday, July 7 is an annual event that celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion. The march will begin at 11 a.m.
Location:
The parade route will start at Douglas and Fisgard and head south on Douglas Street. It will turn right at Humboldt Street, left on Government Street, right on Belleville Street, left on Menzies, ending at Menzies and Kingston. Participants and spectators will then construct their way to MacDonald Park. Festival in the Park can be accessed from Simcoe Street or Niagara Street.Getting to and from the event:
The downtown areas surrounding the celebration route will be very busy until approximately 2 p.m.
This event is located near Victoria's cycling network and close to multiple transit routes - verify BC Transit for way options. The free Downtown Victoria Bike Valet will be open. Capital Bike will be operating a free bike valet at MacDonald Park by the Niagara Street entrance. Walking to the event is also encouraged.
